MAGNETS

Magnets of Hope
Sexual violence affects 2 in 3 females and 1 in 3 males in our province – which equates to approximately 1.8 million Albertans and according to a report from MacEwan University, nearly half of the 13,000 post-secondary students surveyed across Alberta reported experiencing sexual or gender based violence since attending their institution. Those statistics are mirrored in a 2020 study by Statistics Canada that found 45% of women and 32% of men in post-secondary institutions across Canada experienced unwanted sexualized behaviors.
As a University student herself it became apparent to Gracie George that post-secondary students in Alberta needed to be aware of, and be able to access crucial crisis support services. This began her mission to Give Hope and introduce and familiarize students across Alberta with the Sendero Centre’s 24-Hour Support Line
The 24-Hour Support Line is accessible via phone, text or webchat, all across Alberta, 24 hours a day. This means no matter where you are, Sendero Centre is there to support you.
Here is where you come in and help us Give Hope to Albertans.
